We know walking into something new can feel a little daunting — so here’s exactly what to expect.

When you arrive, head to the bar, get yourself a nice drink and make your way to the room. Here you will find plenty of friendly and welcoming faces that include regulars and brand new starters.

The beginner class starts from absolute scratch — no experience assumed, no prior knowledge needed. We will walk you through the basic steps in a fun, relaxed way. We partner people up and rotate partners (optional for couples) and before you know it you’ll be having fun, meeting lovely new people and dancing.

After the class there’s social dancing time where you can practice what you’ve learned, socialise with all the people you met in the class, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Most people leave their first night realising their was nothing to worry about, with new friends and wondering why they didn’t come sooner.

Not at all — in fact most people come solo. We rotate partners throughout the class so you’ll get to dance with everyone in the room. It’s one of the best ways to meet people, and you’ll be surprised how quickly you make friends and feel part of the group. Come on your own, bring a friend, or come as a couple — everyone is welcome.

Then you’re in exactly the right place. Every single one of our students started where you are now — including some of our best dancers. We have over 20 years of experience teaching complete beginners, breaking everything down into simple, easy steps. You’ll be moving to the music on your very first night, we promise.

Absolutely not — and we mean that. Our students range from 18 to their late 60s, all shapes, all sizes, all backgrounds. Our classes are for everyone, and we’ve seen complete beginners of every description become confident, joyful dancers. The only thing you need to walk through our door is the willingness to give it a go. Everything else we’ll take care of.

Whatever you feel comfortable in — there’s no dress code. For your feet, avoid rubber soles like trainers if you can, as they can stick to the floor and make turning tricky. A smooth-soled shoe works best, but don’t let this put you off — plenty of people come in whatever they have on and have a brilliant time. As you get into it you may want to invest in a pair of dance shoes, but that’s entirely your choice and there’s no rush.

It’s different for everyone, but most people are surprised by how quickly they pick it up. After just a few weeks you’ll have the foundations, and within a few months you’ll be dancing confidently and trying new moves. The secret is consistency — the more you come, the faster you improve. That’s why we run classes four nights a week and offer discounts for coming regularly and more than once in the same week.

To ensure a spot in the class and an ideal group size for teaching, we do require you to book online through our website before attending. We use online booking to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate and that we know when to expect you.
